Installing KitCAD i3 KGC r3 for XAMPP

Please note : NOT all Graphic Cards support X3Dom OpenGL software uses. Before downloading it is suggested that System Administrators perform testing by using the online version combined with the most up-to-date Web Browser to determine functionability.




KGC_RPCL_3-5_XAMPP_Installer_Setup.exe

The KGC_RPCL_3-5_XAMPP_Installer_Setup.exe (1.7Meg to 109Meg) allows users to select the installable features.
System Requirements: 350Meg to 1.2Gig free harddisc space, +Windows 9x/XP (RECOMMENDED)/VISTA/Windows 7, and Microsoft Software Installer (MSI)
If installing on Windows operating systems above XP/Vista see http://www.apachefriends.org/download.html and download a fresh XAMPP version above 1.8.2

Starting the InstallAware process

Click the Next button

Setup Readme.txt file

Click the Next button

Select Setup type, Typical setup - Compact setup - Custom setup

Select requred Setup type (SUGGESTED : Custom Setup), then Click the Next button

Custom Setup type allows the selecting of installable featurers

Select the required Setup featurers listed below, then Click the Next button

InnoSetup setup for KitCAD i3 KGC, and KitCAD i3 KGC r3 (installed by default):-
C:\Program Files\Kitchen\KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0; XAMPP\KGC_RPCL_3-5_XAMPP_Setup.exe [Instructions]

Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (NSIS) for XAMPP win32 1.8.1 Visual C++ (select if XAMPP 1.8.2 or better is not installed, as image above shows) :-
C:\Program Files\Kitchen\KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0; XAMPP\xampp-win32-1.8.1-VC9-installer.exe [Instructions]

Visual C++ 2008 SP1 v9 (only install if PHP will not run, and VC++ 2008 is not installed):-
C:\Program Files\Kitchen\KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0; XAMPP\vcredist_x86.exe [Instructions]
NOTE: If XAMPP 1.8.3 or above is installed then skip the install of Visual C++ 2008 SP1 v9.


Confirm settings before installing

Click the Next button

Downloading and Installing from 7zip archives

Click the Next button to begin download followed by unpacking of downloaded 7zip files.
The InstallAware Internet download of 7zip archives from KitchenPages.com has a try again/resume function.
Drop-out's for dialup users may occur due to size of 7zip archives;
A firewall may prompt request user permission before downloading.
This InstallAware setup will try to resume where it stopped downloading, before restarting download again.
The InstallAware 2012 setup uses windows Microsoft Software Installer (MSI) to setup and manage unpacked 7zip archives


The InstallAware setup finish dialog will be displayed

Click the Finish button to exit. Any installed programs that need to be run should be active;
Users may continue and close the InstallAware setup without affecting other setups.

After setup; The InstallAware updater for KitCAD i3 KGC, and KitCAD i3 KGC r3:-
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\{661B2DDE-D93C-4FC5-80A0-4E7267BCA908}\KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0; XAMPP.exe /update
And the InstallAware uninstaller, modify, repair for KitCAD i3 KGC, and KitCAD i3 KGC r3:-
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\{661B2DDE-D93C-4FC5-80A0-4E7267BCA908}\KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0; XAMPP.exe

The 7zip archive files downloaded by the InstallAware installer are catched by default and using the Operating system Web Browser settings; No archive encryption is enabled.
The 7zip archive files may/will be catched at %USERPROFILE%\Temporary Internet Files\ with the 8.3 mime type extension naming of .7zip
Clearing the default Operating system Web Browser {Internet Explorer} will allow downloading of the latest release [Instructions].

NOTE : files in the C:\Program Files\Kitchen\KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0; XAMPP\ folder can be deleted, if needed users can repair using InstallAware.


KGC_RPCL_3-5_XAMPP_Setup.exe

The KGC_RPCL_3-5_XAMPP_Setup.exe (5.3Meg) installs KitCAD i3 KGC r3 for XAMPP within the folder of C:\XAMPP\
The current version of KitCAD i3 KGC (localhost - WebServer Example) is also included to support KitCAD i3 KGC r3 for XAMPP.
System Requirements: 25Meg free harddisc space, +Windows 9x/XP (RECOMMENDED)/VISTA/Windows 7, XAMPP +1.7.3, HTML5 compatable Web Browser

Starting the InnoSetup process

Click the Next button

License Dialog

Select I accept the agreement, and then click the Next button

KitCAD i3 KGC r3 for XAMPP Destination dialog

Enter the Destination folder of C:\xampp\ (as image above shows)

Folder exists warning dialog

If displayed, select Yes

Confirm settings before installing

Click the Next button

Installing progress dialog

The above dialog is displayed while the InnoSetup is installing files; No user action is required

The InnoSetup finish dialog will be displayed

Click the Finish button to exit.

After setup; The InnoSetup uninstaller for KitCAD i3 KGC, and KitCAD i3 KGC r3:-
C:\Program Files\Kitchen\KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0, XAMPP\unins000.exe

NOTE : This release of KitCAD i3 KGC and KitCAD i3 KGC r3 for XAMPP has Security DISABLED.
Do NOT use to host or provide a public Internet service/s without correcting Security configeration and issues.

KitCAD i3 KGC r3 software upgrades currently require the Web Browser client cache be cleared, for the most up-to-date display to be rendered

Advanced users or system administrators that download the KGC_RPCL_3-5_XAMPP zip or 7z Archives, must extract the XAMPP folder to C:\.


xampp-win32-1.8.1-VC9-installer.exe

The xampp-win32-1.8.1-VC9-installer.exe (97.3Meg) installs XAMPP 1.8.1 within the folder of C:\XAMPP\
System Requirements: 64Meg RAM, +750Meg free harddisc space, +Windows 2003/XP (RECOMMENDED)/VISTA/Windows 7
Download Page : xampp 1.8.1, 1.8.2 (for XP/NT/2003/Vista), 1.8.3 (for win7 or better)

The Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (NSIS) for XAMPP may start with a welcome message or a UAC warning notice;

If displayed, Click Ok or Next

XAMPP Setup Destination dialog

Enter the Destination folder of C:\xampp\ (as image above shows)

For first run, allow XAMPP to start after the Installer has finished

After setup; The uninstaller for XAMPP 1.8.1 can be located within Add/Remove Programs of the Windows Control Panel.

NOTE : XAMPP is not meant for production use but only for developers in a development environment.
The way XAMPP is configured is to be open as possible and allowing the developer anything he/she wants.
Do NOT use to host or provide a public Internet service/s without correcting Security configeration and issues. XAMPP Security settings/weaknesses MUST be corrected before non-developer use, see: http://localhost/security/


Visual C++ 2008 SP1 v9 notes

If XAMPP 1.8.3 or above is installed then skip the install of Visual C++ 2008 SP1 v9.
The user must Install this - only if needed; The InstallAware setup does not run the vcredist_x86.exe installer.

For Administrators on Older systems (XP/2003 and before) if PHP will not run - then a check to see if the system has Visual C++ 2008 SP1 v9 installed is required; As follows:
From the Windows Desktop; Start button | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs
Check that the Installed Programs listing does not have the following:-
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.21022
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.6161

Should the system need Visual C++ 2008 SP1 v9 support or an upgrade from betas then perform the following steps:
1) Read the Visual C++ 2008 instructions at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582 before use.
2) re-run the KGC_RPCL_3-5_XAMPP_Installer_Setup.exe InstallAware setup, and select Maintenance
3) Select to Install the Feature of vcredist_x86.exe
4) Complete the InstallAware mainetance setup

After setup; The Installer for Visual C++ 2008 SP1 v9 can be run from the Windows Desktop | Start | Programs | KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0; XAMPP
Or at the location of : C:\Program Files\Kitchen\KGC; RPCL 3.0, RPCL 5.0; XAMPP\vcredist_x86.exe


Starting XAMPP and the Apache web server

From the Windows Desktop; Start button | All Programs | XAMPP for Windows | click the XAMPP Control Panel icon.
The XAMPP Control Panel Application will be shown (as image below shows).

Click the first Start button to run the Apache Web Server

The Windows Firewall dialog MAY be displayed

If shown - Select and Enable PRIVATE NETWORKS, deselect PUBLIC NETWORKS, and Click the Allow access button (as image above shows)

The XAMPP Control Panel Application will show the running status of Apache (as image below shows)

Users can minimize the XAMPP Control Panel to the windows Tray, or Quit the Application and restart later.

NOTE: The Apache Web Server will continue to run unless stopped

Running KitCAD i3 KGC XAMPP

KitCAD i3 KGC XAMPP (localhost - WebServer Example), and KitCADi3ie5.exe

The image above shows KitCADi3ie5.exe and the splash screen for starting KitCAD i3 KGC

To Update this version of KitCAD i3 KGC (localhost - WebServer Example); users will need to perform the following:
1) Start XAMPP Control Panel, then start Apache Web Server [Instructions]
2) Start KitCADi3ie5.exe; Or a Web Browser
3) Click the WebServer Example (local Webserver) link; Or open web page of http://localhost/library/i3/Index.html
4) Click the upgrade link shown on the WebServer Example (local Webserver) index page.
5) If needed, download and unzip a upgraded version from KitCADi3_xampp_localhost.zip [Instructions]


NOTE : Users of the TEST Setup KitCAD i3 version may find that KitCAD i3 is no longer showing the splash screen link for XAMPP served pages.
Re-Installing the TEST Setup version of KitCAD i3 will correct this issue. See work-around for further help.

Running KitCAD i3 KGC r3 for XAMPP

KitCAD i3 KGC r3 for XAMPP; RPCL 3.0; (localhost)

Start XAMPP Control Panel, then start Apache Web Server [Instructions]
Start the Google Chrome Web Browser and enter the URL address of http://localhost/library/i3/r3 [link].

The suggested Web Browser for end users is an up-to-date version of Google Chrome.
Other Web Browsers that support WebGL X3DOM are (with or without flash plug-in) : Internet Explorer 10, Opera browser and Mozilla Firefox *


NOTE : To enable WebGL X3DOM support with Firefox Web Browsers {before version 34.0}, users will need to make configuration changes by using the URL address of about:config and changing the setting of webgl.force-enabled to be true.



Install - viewer support;

For users that can not view WebGL or X3DOM content, there are Options to use the VRML97 markup language for viewing WRL files instead.
To view the optional VRML97 WRL content for viewing a plug-in or player may be required. Users must select the KitCAD i3 KGC r3 Options to create VRML97 files before rendering.
If required, Install Third party software viewers that are required to render content; See 3D/2D viewer help.
